Since the launch of our alternative publishing initiative, we’ve had a lot of questions about the SAS line, and more general questions about alternative products. This FAQ is... well, the questions we get asked a lot.
A brief rundown of the SAS can be found here. More detail can be found in our comprehensive SAS Guide PDF, which you can download here.
The Storytelling Adventure System (SAS) is a format of adventure design that is exclusive to White Wolf Publishing. The electronic adventures we offer for download in the SAS format are often called SASs themselves. All electronic and print-on-demand products from White Wolf fall under our Alternative Publishing (AP) initiative. All of our electronic SASs are part of AP, but not all alternative products are SASs.
We sell all of our SASs exclusively through our partners at OneBookShelf, primarily through their DriveThruRPG.com site. You can look at all of our SAS offerings here.
Yes! If you want to offer your SAS up for download from a fansite, please check out the Dark Pack guidelines here to make sure that your SAS falls within our guidelines.
No. The SAS format remains our exclusive property, and we are not offering it as an open source option at this time.
Absolutely! The SAS line is a great way to try to break into becoming a regular freelancer for us. However, don’t send an entire manuscript to us for review. Carefully read the submissions guidelines here and send a 2-3 page pitch for your SAS for us to review.
Some of our print products (such as The Fall of the Camarilla and the Scion line) already use the SAS format. However, our landscape, individual stories are currently PDF-only.
You can print one copy of your PDF for your own personal use. You cannot upload it to a site that allows resale of the printed product, however.
The default for most PDFs is Acrobat Reader 4. However, our SASs offer a lot of interactive features which may require a more sophisticated PDF reader. We try to make the interactive elements optional and not a requirement to use the SAS in question, but it’s always good to update your PDF reader software to the latest version by visiting Adobe.com.
OneBookShelf is our exclusive PDF reseller and handles all technical problems with our PDFs. You can contact them here.
While we do offer most of our products in PDF, certain ones won’t be offered due to logistical concerns or internal company decisions. However, with nearly a thousand other PDFs available for sale, we’re hoping you’ll be able to find something you like!
Due to some complications with our current print-on-demand partnership, we have suspended our print-on-demand program. We will be taking time to make sure that if print-on-demand books are offered again, that they will be of the quality that you as customers and we are publishers demand from our products.
